The Hauraki transmitting
boat was attached to a
buoy in international waters
in a triangle between the
tip of Coromandel, Great
Barrier Island and Little
Barrier Island.
It was an exposed and rough
section of the Hauraki Gulf
and the scene of many
incidents during the pirate
years.
